Municipal Action

It is important to make breastfeeding promotion and support a priority. This includes: return to work programs/policies around breastfeeding support, breatfeeding signs in public spaces, and increasing the availability of change tables.

Make Breastfeeding Your Business

This is a provincial initiative that assists business, organizations and municipalities to ratify practices that protect, promote and support breastfeeding for their employees and clients.

BFI

This global initiative was created by the World Health Organization and UNICEF. Members of this multidisciplinary committee are interested in earning BFI designation for eligible facilities and ensuring practice follows the BFI standards.

Identifying supportive spaces includes identifying breatfeeding-friendly and family-friendly spaces in our communities.

World Breastfeeding Week

In Canada, the first week of October is celebrated as World Breastfeeding Week. This is an occasion to take action in endorsing breastfeeding, broaden public awareness and rally support for breastfeeding anytime and anywhere.
