I was born in Bilbao, Spain. Bilbao is the largest city in Euskadi (the Basque Country). When I was around 4 years old, the company that my father used to work for took several contracts overseas and relocated us to Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic until I was around 8 when we moved back to Spain. Then, when I was around 10, we moved to Ecuador and lived there for almost 4 years. After that, they sent us to Bolivia where we lived in the beautiful colonial city of Sucre for 4 years. After finishing high school I decided to study Computer Science at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, US. On the first day of orientation week for international students, I met my future wife Shim (below), who is from Malaysia. Currently my wife and I live in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada where I am a Professor at the Department of Computer Science at St. Francis Xavier University . The rest of my family lives in Spain.
