I was born in Bilbao, Spain. Bilbao is the largest city in Euskadi (the Basque Country). When I was around 4 years old, the company that my father used to work for took several contracts overseas and relocated us to Costa Rica (where my brother was born), Mexico, and the Dominican Republic until I was around 8 when we moved back to Spain. Then, when I was around 10, we moved to Ecuador and lived there for almost 4 years. After that, they sent us to Bolivia where we lived in the beautiful city of Sucre for 4 years. After finishing high school I decided to study Computer Science at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, US. On the first day of orientation week for international students, I met my future wife Shim (below), who is from Malaysia. I studied in Oklahoma for about 9 years and received my bachelor, master, and Ph.D. degrees. Currently my wife and I live in beautiful Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada where I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics,Statistics, and Computer Science at St. Francis Xavier University . The rest of my family lives in Spain.
