CSCI 275 - Project

Team Database Application (TDA)

As the course progresses, you will be building a team database application (TDA) for a real-world scenario. The team will design a relational schema for the database, and create an actual database using a relational database management system (ORACLE). The database will be populated with sample data and each team member will be responsible for creating some interactive queries and modifications on the database. Using samples provided by the instructor the team will develop user-friendly tools for manipulating the database. The project consists of five inter-related deliverables which are due in approximately 2-3 week intervals.

Students are required to work in teams of two or three. There will be only ONE submission per team deliverable. Unless otherwise noted, deliverables are due at the beginning of the class period. Each team member must sign-off on each deliverable. If a student does not sign the deliverable then no credit will be given to that individual. Each deliverable must also include a responsibility list indicating team member responsibilities for the deliverable.

At the end of the semester, teams must demonstrate their projects to the course instructor in a 15 minute session.

The five deliverables for the TDA are as follows:

  1. Project Plan & Database Design - Due: Tuesday, 19 February (29 January 2013)
  2. Relational Database Design - Due: Tuesday, 12 March (12 February 2013)
