Politics of Climate Change in Canada

The issue of global warming touches on most of the central themes of modern Canadian politics. It is also a key element in the emerging discourse on global citizenship. As a result, climate change politics offers a fascinating laboratory for analytic work. The seminar will develop a variety of perspectives, including: international regime building; federal-provincial dynamics, political economy, science politics, symbolic politics and choice of policy instruments. It will combine efforts at understanding climate issues, interpreting the political constraints on fashioning responses, and establishing the power dynamics in the sector overall.
