The debates will take place on October 23-24, with registration and coaches' clinic early Friday evening at 6 p.m.

Debates will begin Friday evening and will continue throughout Saturday. We will attempt to finish early Saturday evening, allowing teams the options of returning home at a reasonable hour or, for those who wish to stay over, of spending some free time visiting Antigonish.

The debates will involve three-person teams, with power matching in the later rounds. Two teams from the same school, or any composite team, cannot debate in the championship round. The first two rounds will have a prepared topic. Debates on Saturday will be impromptu. Parliamentary rules will be in effect.

The resolution for the prepared rounds is: Be it resolved THAT: Individuals suffering from illnesses that are the result of the use of tobacco or tobacco products not be covered by provincial medical insurance.

The individual winner and second place debater will be offered entrance scholarships to St. Francis Xavier University. Trophies will also be given to runners-up and individual winners and runner-up and winning teams.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Schools may enter one or two teams. The entry fee is $50.00 per team. St. Francis Xavier will provide meals for participants. Teams will be responsible, however, for their own overnight accommodations. The three main motels in Antigonish (The Green Way/ Claymore, The Maritime Inn/Wandlyn, and Welcome Inn) offer competitive rates depending on the number of persons per room.

To enter, simply send your entry fee by October 9 at the latest. Cheques should be made payable to St. Francis Xavier University.
