Marine Pollution

An examination ot the sources, types, fate and ecological effets of pollution that enters the marine environment.  Lecture material will be agumented, whenever possible, with examples drawn from Atlantic Canada, with special emphasis on the pulp and paper industry, and offshore hydrocarbon exploration and development.  Laboratory material will deal with topics such as detection of the pollutants, toxicity testing, regulatory aspects, and effluent treatment.
