This letter from the Commanding Officer of Nova Scotia Highlanders, dated February 1916, was used as a recruitment device. It was to be read in every school to "the Boys and Girls" of Nova Scotia; they were supposed to pressure their fathers and big brothers to enlist. Within twenty-two days, 3500 men had enlisted.
