Bitter Harvest ProcessL: Bitter Harvest, 1991 - wool, silk & gold - 152 x 86 cm - Private Collection, USA

My tapestry, Bitter Harvest, was inspired by this small statuette base showing Eve and the Serpent in the Garden of Eden. I thought the apples on the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil could represent the 7 Deadly Sins: envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride, sloth, & wrath. These sins seemed like an apt metaphor of New York City in the 1980s.
