If you were to view this illusion with both eyes and unmediated by the Internet, the ghostly image of Kant's head really would seem to hover in space just apon Kant's shoulders (printed here on a little cardboard stand). As a second best, you can get some idea if you can freeview these paired stereoscopic images crosseyed.

On the lower left of the cardboard torso is a mashed thing that was a representation of Kant's hands before the cat got hold of it.
