Figure 1 – Image Plate mechanism

This is a detail of the back of the Optical Machine showing how the curvature of the image plate can be adjusted by a brass wheel. At its maximum curvature, which you see here, the illusion of depth in the image is supposed to be enhanced. I am not convinced that it is.
