Jack MacDougall

Jack MacDougall worked out west as a conductor for the railway.  Somehow he made a lot of money.  Local lore has it that this was hush money for some sort of railway accident.  He returned to this spot sometime in the 1920s and spent lavishly to build a farmhouse and outbuildings.  “Where one nail would do he would use three,” recounts Bernie.  He died in the 1960s.

We only found evidence of an outbuilding and a probable location for a barn.  The house foundation appears to have been filled in when the road was upgraded.  Bernie remembers seeing a well about three years ago.  We searched for it in vain.
