John James MacNeil

This house site is on the Greendale Road near Georgeville.  John James MacNeil lived here, and was the last person to live continuously on the Greendale Road.  His sister, Agnes Gaudi, used to spend summers here as late as the 1960s.  The house became known as Mrs. Gaudi’s house.  Neither John James, nor his brother Kenny had children.  Bernie says John James was a deserter in the Second World War.

We lacked time to document many of these sites fully, but should probably measure this one as a reference for when it collapses /decays.

The house still stood in 2008.  This is a view looking east.

The following photo is of the front door which faces east.

The following is a photo of the sill lying directly on uncut stone.

Here is the damaged head of an adze in the wreckage of part of the house.

The bleak interior of a rotting house.

The following is a photo of Bernie looking east from the wreckage of the house.

Rhubarb is still growing in the ruins of the garden.
