This site was identified through a strange and fortuitous set of events. Charlie, my nephew Guifré and I were touring the Keppoch not looking for basements. But when we passed this section of woods, I could feel we were near a house site. So I stopped and hopped out, leaving the Jeep on the road. In three minutes I had located the foundation. We hadn’t seen anyone all day, but at this moment a truck drove up and stopped nose to nose with the Jeep. Amazingly the old guy sitting in the passenger seat knew the house. Indeed he had been born there. He is reputed to be the last person born on Keppoch Mountain.
