St. Patrick’s Church, Merland (Eigg Mountain Settlement History)  (Map Location)

 

According to John Lauchie Haley this church was built in 1882.  It, along with the school, served an Irish community of the area.  Previously they had traveled by a now disused road to the church at Guysburough Intervale.  The current road reaches it from the back, but the original road approached it from the front.

 

The old windows of St. Patrick’s Church are fastened with wooden pegs.
