Ronald ‘the Cape’ MacIsaac (Eigg Mountain Settlement History)

This site is just off the Main Road to the right as you climb the mountain.  Ronald ‘the Cape’ MacIsaac inherited the property from his father Angus MacIsaac who inherited the northern half of 500 acres from Lauchy [MacIsaac? How does he fit in the genealogy? Angus’ father was John, not Lauchy].  The “Capes” got their nickname because John [?] had settled first in Cape George before moving up here [when?].  [Was Sandy Gillis the original owner?  Where does Sandy fit in the Gillis genealogy?]  [Presumably they were in the “back settlement” of Cape George where the land is not much better than here.  Was there another reason for moving here?]

The original house is visible on the 1945 aerial photo.  It is in the shape of a “T” with the stem of the “T” pointing west.  The remains of the barn appear to be to the south nearer the road.

Just to the south east is this dilapidated building [who owned it, what was it used for?]
