PowerPoint 97 in Education
PowerPoint is a Presentation Application program. One
can produce a slide show on screen, overhead transparencies, and 35mm slides.
The onscreen slide show can be animated, containing clipart, sound, movies,
and web connections. In addition, audience hand outs and speaker notes
can be printed out to go along with a presentation. The design of a presentation
should be simple, using the same background and format for all slides to
give it consistency.

use power point to reinforce letters and sounds, I usually do five letters
per presentation. The students can do this activity on their
own
-
use Power Point with math applications and graphic organizers.
-
For very young kids to be exposed to the media while making, for
example, a venn diagram that dances around, makes sound, and looks colorful.
-
It is an easy thing to demonstrate equivalent fractions simply by drawing
lines and having them fly in. Making groups of shapes with the drawing
tools can demonstrate multiplication and division. Even changing
mixed fractions to improper (and visa versa) can be demonstrated with flair

After learning the basics I had students do a variety of presentations.
I added skills such as adding sound, digital camera pictures, scanning,
adding video, etc. as we went. Students really got excited when it
was something they connected to. I used a rubric or Point scale for
each project. Students knew before starting the requirements and point
value of each requirement. Below are a few ideas that I have used.
-
My Family - (Parents loved seeing this one.)
-
My Best Friend, talent, or subject
-
War - allowed them to choose any war for their presentation.
-
Any Planet or the Moon
-
Club or Sport
-
Favorite Movie, Rock Band, Singer, or recording group, TV Show,
Star or Athlete, sport, prime minister
