Blood Pressure

To determine blood pressure from this set of tracings, look for the first Korotkoff sound on the peripheral pulse (upper) tracing. Follow this down to the pressure tracing (first vertical arrow), and at the point where the arrow intersects the pressure tracing, draw another arrow straight across to the scale on the side (first horizontal arrow). In this example, the systolic pressure is about 83 mmHg. The diastolic pressure is taken in a similar fashion, though you would choose the first peripheral pulse that is back to normal levels.
