What
do Gob and Crece take into account when deciding whether to pursue
development assistance from Canda or Emergland? Taking Canda as a
generic representative of Global North countries, and Emergland as a
version of China, as described in the readings and the summary of the
debate, develop a list of issues that Gob might see as important, as
well as those Crece might see as important. Submit this to me, with the
first and last names of all members of the group. Draw on the readings
about new donors as you put together your answer. Which country do Gob
and Crece decide to rely on?
Gob, a civil servant, working for the Ministry of Development in Poorland.
Crece,
a Poorland highland peasant from Villachica who depends on subsistence
agriculture and some market production for a living. Crece’s extended
family includes some who grow tuttle bushes in the jungle, others who
work in the wormite mines and others who have migrated to work in the
informal sector in Bigugly.
Frosty, from Canda, a capitalist
country in the Global North, and works for that country's bilateral aid
agency, called "Canpoo" in Poorland. Canda, like other countries in the
Global North, is cutting back on bilateral aid.
Newbie, from
Emergland, an emerging economy and international donor country, works
for that country’s bilateral aid agency, called “Emergapoo” in
Poorland. Emergland is a communist country that has been viewed with
suspicion by Canda and other countries of the Global North, but now has
a booming economy.
