Bourdieu: not marrying in rural France
- Who does not get married in 1960s rural SW France?
- Why not?
- What is the experience of these men?
- What does not marrying mean for them? How do they internalize their unmarriageability?
- How does this relate to changes in the society?
- Are these insights applicable in other circumstances?
- That is, can we examine the structural factors that promote or
discourage marriage to (or partnering with) particular kinds of people
for other societies?
- Also, can we examine how
people internalize the knowledge of their unmarriageability and manage
their behaviour accordingly?
