contains currents news releases, orders registry,
directories, fisheries management plans as well as maps
and ports for the Maritime Region. Canadian
Stock Assessment Secretariat:
This site contains a lot of current information on fish
and invertebrate stocks in eastern Canada including
commercial stocks in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There are
Stock Status Reports, which provide summary information
on stock status. There are research documents which have
much more detailed technical information that form the
basis for the stock status reports. DFO,

Homepage: This is the
gateway to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
website. FRCC,
Fisheries Resource Conservation
Council: The FRCC makes
public recommendations to the Minister of Fisheries and
Oceans on conservation measures for the Atlantic
Fisheries. Its members come from the fishing industry and
academia. Their website contains a list of news releases,
publications, a calendar of activities and
contacts. Gulf
Nova Scotia Herring Federation:
This site describes this federation which was formed in
December of 1996. It is made up of representatives of
Fisherman's organizations that are based in Gulf Nova
Scotia. It represents their interests in their dealings
with DFO at management meetings, stock assessment
meetings, etc. It also liases with other organizations
and governments on their behalf. There are herring
and makerel links as well as quota reports. Oceans
Conservation Website:
This site is designed to provide a profile of Oceans
Conservation and Protection in Canada, set within a
global perspective. Included in this site is information
on the Department Fisheries and Oceans' Oceans Act, which
contains many conservation initiatives. It also
highlights endeavours undertaken by other Canadian
Government Departments, Provincial and Territorial
Governments and non-government organisations in the areas
of sustainable development and conservation and the
protection of the marine environment. International
Year of the Ocean - 1998:
This site provides information on activities related to
1998, the international year of the ocean. Strait
East Nova Community Enterprise Network
(SenCen): This site
contains all the CAP sites around St. Georges Bay. The
CAP sites may be able to provide access to the GBEP web
site and listserv for fish harvesters in those areas.

Resources: This site
describes the Interdisciplinary Studies in Aquatic
Resources programme of undergraduate education leading to
Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of
Business Administration degrees with a major in aquatic
resources. There are links to the curriculum, research
projects, memorandums of agreement and other related
sites available here.
