Automatic Warnings
ChemDraw automatically checks for correct chemical syntax as you draw. If ChemDraw finds a potential problem, a red box is displayed around the questionable object. The red box is displayed on screen only and does not print.
To enable the automatic display of chemical warnings:
- On the View menu, choose Show Chemical Warnings.
- This setting applies to all documents.
To view a description of the problem, do one of the following:
- Right-click on the warning and choose Explain This Warning.
- Select the structure and from the Structure menu, choose Check Structure.

To select which types of chemical warnings to display:1. From the File menu, choose Preferences.2. Click Display.The Display tab appears.3. In the Chemical Warnings section, click the types of warnings you want to display.To disable the automatic error checking on a specific object:
- Right-click the object and deselect Display Warnings.
When Display Warnings is deselected for an object:
- Red boxes are not displayed for questionable objects.
- Problems are reported by the Check Structure command. For more information on the Check Structure commands, see "Check Structure".
