Converting Structures to 3D


You can convert a two-dimensional structure drawn in ChemDraw to a three-dimensional structure. To use this feature, you must have CambridgeSoft Chem3D installed on your computer.

To convert a structure to 3D:
1. Select the structure to convert.
2. From the Edit menu, choose Get 3D Model.
The 3D structure appears in the document window.
NOTE: 3D Objects inserted in this way cannot be transferred between platforms. For more information see "File Formats".
To edit the 3D structure:
1. Double-click the 3D structure.
Chem3D opens.
2. Edit the structure and close Chem3D when you are finished.
The edited structure appears in the ChemDraw document window.
