RAMPS:
According to the Canadian Standard Association (CSA):
5.5.1 Running slope and length
A ramp shall have
(a) a running slope with the ratio between 1:12 (8.33%) and 1:20
(5%); and
(b) a distance between level landings not longer than 9000mm.
5.5.2 Cross slope
The cross slope of the ramp surface shall not be steeper than the ratio of 1:50 (2%).
5.5.3 Width
The clear width on a ramp shall be at least 920 mm.
5.5.4 Landings
A level landing shall
(a) be provided at the top and bottom of each ramp;
(b) beprovidedatallchangesoframpdirection;
(c) be at least as wide as the widest ramp leading to it;
(d) havealengthnotlessthan1500mm;
(e) at door ways serving an accessible route,have an area of atleast 1500 × 1500 mm

SIDEWALKS:
Any sloped walkway less steep than 1:20 is designed as a sidewalk.
Unlike ramps, side walks do not require a hand rail or edge protection.
