3. Annie MacDonald, Daughter of Black John MacDonald.

This is probably the third farm on Colin and Christina’s list of residents on the Brown’s Mountain Main Road going east to west.  They describe it as Annie MacDonald, Daughter of Black John MacDonald.  The Geological Survey Map of 1893 also indicates a Pat MacDonald about here on the north side of the Main Road.

The house can be seen standing in the 1945 aerial photos, although the barn appears to have collapsed.  The fields are open and there is are two lines of planted trees, one to the west of the house and one along the road.  The road line was also a rock wall and there is a well-laid stone wall to the north.  On the aerial photos the field extends north of this north rock wall.

There is a steel building and communications tower at the site currently.

The building ridgeline was oriented north-south.  The house was 27 ft along that line and 24 ft. wide.  The cellar was in the north portion, 20 by 24 ft.

This view is looking northeast across the foundation.  The access stairs to the cellar are in the foreground.

This is a view of the northeast corner of the cellar.
