Fieldstone Wall (Eigg Mountain Settlement History)  (Map Location)

 

Fieldstone wall located north of the Brown’s Mountain Main Road.  It more-or-less defines the northern boundary of an unusually small (10 acre) grant attributed to “Myet” on the Land Grants Map.  We have attributed the nearby house site to Annie MacDonald.

Notice how the stones in this rock wall have been carefully placed.  This is the only example that Charlie and I have found on either Eigg Mountain or Brown’s Mountain where there is evidence that a line of rock was actually built as a wall rather than dumped in a line.
