Donald MacDougall pioneer Rear Arisaig – Highfield (Eigg Mountain Settlement History)
Claims in a petition that he is one of the original settlers along with Alexander MacDonald, Donald MacDonald, and Peter Gillis all of whom and had been residing in the back settlement of the Gulf Shore (Rear Arisaig - Highfield) for upwards of 30 years in 1827. (In other words there were settlers on the Mountain around 1800.) He received a grant in 1829.
