Map Formats (Eigg Mountain Settlement History)

The map exists in four formats:

1) An ArcGIS online versionThis is the public version offering the most detailed information.  .

2) A PDF version which you can download (10.6 MB), use and print out if you like.  There is more detail on this map than the Google Earth version, but no hyperlinks.

3) Google Earth (a .kmz file, 79.3 MB) which, with some patience will open for you in Google Earth.  Of course you may have to download and install Google Earth first though.  It’s free.  The Google earth version offers only a small sample of the information available in the original ArcView map.  There are a limited number of hyperlinks from the map to text descriptions.  Google Earth has some very cool graphics though.

4) An ArcMap version.  This is the software in which the map was created.  It has editing and data analysis functions that other versions lack.
