Snapscope Genus (ca. 1910 - 1930)

The Snapscope is a small, concave-mirror viewer meant to enhance the 3D effect to snapshots. It is a genus of “optical machine” in the Optical Machine Taxonomy.

The American Show-Me-Scope was, judging by the number that have survived, the most popular of the three Snapscope species. Its square wooden base has three slots in which to erect snapshots depending on which distance the user finds most pleasing.
