Multiple-Lens Polyorama Genus (ca.1850 - ?)

Multiple-Lens Polyoramas are part of a family of optical machines designed for standard-format plaques dioramic – a type of paper diorama affixed to a rectangular wooden frame.

They all have a back-flap for back-illumination of translucent paper dioramas and a top-flap for front-illumination.

They are distinct from other devices in this family by having more than one lens so that multiple viewers can enjoy their illusions simultaneously.

So far three species have been identified for this genus:

Triple Polyorama I:
MNC-M01036

This three-lens Polyorama has the same flared front as a Mondo Niovo

Triple Polyorama II:
FB-POL-34

This three-lens Polyorama appears to have a flytower for storing plaques dioramique. It does not have the flared front of Triple Polyorama I.

It comes with a set of very beautiful dioramic images.

Double Polyorama:
FB-6898

This is a 2-lens polyorama from the François Binétruy collection.
